i prefer to talk about and agree on total cost for a shoot in advance
as every project is different. i know that can be annoying when comparing
rates, but in my experience it is usually a better way to end up at fair amounts
for everybody involved, clear understanding and having everything already
sorted so during the shoot this is all we focus on.
there are certain projects where hourly rates may be where we end up with,
even then i prefer them to already include pre- and post-work, i.e. organising,
standard equipment, editing, retouching, processing.
for very rough estimates of how much something would cost assume 250€
hour after the first (incl everything)
note that weddings, corporate, artistic, documentary work might end up with
drastically different rates
